See Earth as it is now and as it may be as the climate changes on Science on a Sphere. Developed by NOAA, this fascinating Sphere shows climate models as well as actual NASA satellite data projected on a 7 foot diameter sphere.

Presentations are FREE and continuous from 9:00am-3:00pm on Thursday, Jan. 31.

What’s all this fuss about climate change? Did you know biologists are predicting climate change will cause one out of every three animal and plant species to go extinct by the year 2100?

More than five years in the making, PLANET EARTH redefines natural history filmmaking. The series will amaze viewers with never-before-seen animal behaviors, startling views of locations captured by cameras for the first time, and unprecedented high-definition production techniques.

Paid for by UCSU and SEAC, get the energy-efficient bulb that's changing the we use energy - FREE.

Each bulb saves $36 in energy costs will reduce the climate change emissions equal to driving from Boulder to Denver 36 times.

9 a.m.-6 p.m. in the UMC (across from Baby Doe's), Fiske Planetarium and Old Main chapel during the climate change panels.
1/31 @ 09:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Old Main Chapel: Governor Bill Ritter kicks off CU Focus the Nation
Speakers given by Environmental Center
Governor Bill Ritter, Chancellor Bud Peterson and CU system President Hank Brown will offer opening remarks on CU Focus the Nation and present their plans to reduce climate change emissions in the state and university.

Governor Ritter will discuss his plans to make Colorado the national leader in a developing a clean energy economy.

Chancellor Peterson will discuss his commitment to reduce CU’s contribution to climate change.
Speeches will be followed by a question and answer period.

Bring your class or group of students to tour the Intermediate Processing Facility (IPF), which is the CU Recycling Facility on campus. Gain in depth knowledge of the recycling process here at CU, along with knowledge of the recycling industry beyond campus. See the IPF in operation and learn the benefits of recycling, including the impact that recycling has to reduce climate change.

Tour availabilities are on Thursday, Jan 31st for the following times:
- 9:45 am to 10:45 am
- 2 pm to 3:15 pm

Last February, a fearless duo of eco-minded snowboarders rolled out of the Clif Bar & Company parking lot in Soy George, a veggie-oil-fueled Winnebago, to inform and inspire people to Save Our Snow! The crew met up with many like-minded professional skiers and boarders along the way (World Freeskiing Champion Alison Gannett, Free-heel legend Lorenzo Worster, Pro-boarder Kimmy Fasani and others), and we caught the whole adventure on film.

Climate change poses an unprecedented communication challenge for educators, media and marketers trying to raise awareness and motivate change.

Moderated by Sarah Wise, Visiting Fellow, CIRES Outreach and Education
Speakers:
Lisa Dilling, Assistant Professor, Environmental Studies, Center for Science and Technology Policy Research. Dispelling the myths and identifying new strategies for communicating about climate change.

Bob Morehouse, President, Vermilion Marketing. The President of the company that created Boulder’s ClimateSmart campaign discusses the challenges of developing a marketing campaign based on climate change that motivates changes in personal behavior.

Tom Yulsman, Co-Director, Center for Environmental Journalism, School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Telling Inconvenient Truths: Journalism and Global Warming. Journalists have done a better job of covering global warming than they are given credit for. But major pitfalls loom.
